For more than fifty years, InterOcean systems, inc. has been the world leader in the design and manufacture of the highest quality oceanographic and environmental equipment. The company provides more than 150 standard products, ranging from environmental sensors and instruments to complete systems. Our product areas include current meters, wave & tide gauges, CTDs, hydrophones, acoustic releases, transponders, buoys, remote data telemetry systems, and complete winch and cable handling systems.
Clients in more than 60 countries include the scientific and academic communities, military and private industry in fields such as harbor and port monitoring, fisheries, survey/consultants, and offshore petroleum. Systems of particular interest for offshore applications are our complete, turnkey automated oceanographic and meteorological instrumentation and data acquisition systems. These systems include provisions for monitoring wind, air temperature, barometric pressure and humidity, in addition to ocean parameters such as current speed and direction, and wave, tide and water quality. Data are transmitted from remote stations and moored buoys (using radio, satellite or telephone) to a central location for monitoring and data analysis. InterOcean also provides mooring systems or individual components, and engineering designs for these mooring systems.
InterOcean's facilities, located on a 6-acre site in San Diego, include all phases of production, from R&D to manufacturing, engineering and systems support. Concurrent engineering and production permits optimal quality control, quick adaptation and streamlined efficiency. Our facilities include machine and welding shops, plastics fabrication, electronics assembly and testing/calibration centers.
The machine shop and welding facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art, precision manufacturing tools, including computer-controlled milling machines and lathes. All types of welds are performed (including inert gas, tungsten, ASME code and pressure vessel welding). Critical welds are X-rayed and pressure tested, guaranteeing the highest levels of quality control and product reliability.
InterOcean conducts thorough and complete performance testing and calibration of all instruments and systems. Our test facilities include high-pressure test tanks for long-term underwater testing of all instruments, as well as a facility for dynamically testing winches.
