創(chuàng)立于1970年代的德國WALZ公司是一家生產(chǎn)與光合作用有關(guān)的植物生理生態(tài)儀器的著名公司。公司早期主要生產(chǎn)氣體交換產(chǎn)品（光合儀），在光合作用研究領(lǐng)域占有重要地位。1983年，WALZ公司首席科學(xué)家、德國烏茲堡大學(xué)的Ulrich Schreiber教授設(shè)計發(fā)明了全世界第一臺調(diào)制式（PAM）熒光儀PAM-101/102/103，并迅速得到全球植物生理、生態(tài)領(lǐng)域科研人員的青睞，短時間內(nèi)利用PAM發(fā)表的文章數(shù)量激增，并且一直持續(xù)至今。
