Hunter是MIT(麻繩理工大學)的科學家,他發明顏色對立學說L,a,b表色體系理論,是現代色度學理論的奠基人（已經去世）。1950年為保潔公司(P&G)制造了世界第一臺三刺激值色差儀(測量X、Y、Z）。后注冊成立了HunterLab顏色管理公司，專門從事顏色理論的研究和各種測色儀器的生產。
