History
With Swabian diligence and business skill, we head to the top.
With the registration of KIRCHNER & WILHELM as a company on the 1st of April 1890 in Stuttgart, Gustav Kirchner and Hugo Wilhelm laid the foundation for what would become a successful enterprise that is active world-wide.
Back then, they were already manufacturing medical instruments for diagnostics and surgery for the entire German market. Particularly with their metal record syringes, KaWe soon gained a reputation among distributors, doctors and hospitals.
At the end of 1916, due to health-related issues, Hugo Wilhelm left the business completely in the hands of Gustav Kirchner. With great skill and effort he was able to lead the company successfully in spite of turmoil caused by the war. And it was with pride that, not even two years later in 1918, his oldest son Albert was able to join the executive board, which he managed until 1952.
Following family tradition, in 1962 Georg Kirchner took over the sole management of the company. He kept the enterprising spirit of the Kirchner family alive for a further 54 years: business courage, investment in research and development and a large measure of leadership made Georg Kirchner a successful businessman.
That they should participate in the family-owned business was a given for his children. Together with their father, Regina and Ulrich Kirchner made the jump into the world market: new products, development, national registrations among the globe, a multiplicity of patents in the field of technical-medical instruments world-wide and regular product revisions smoothed the way for constant expansion.
KaWe continued to be led forward with a Swabian, down-to-earth style and entrepreneurial vision. In 1989, the new KaWe building was inaugurated in Asperg near the state capital of Stuttgart. At this location, KaWe still develops and produces high-quality medical products today. In the meantime, Regina Kirchner has taken over the the 4th generation of the management of KIRCHNER & WILHELM - with sucess: expansion in the form of an additional floor was inevitable and was finished in 2008.
