Helixis公司成立于2007年，由美國(guó)加州理工學(xué)院生物學(xué)家，諾貝爾獎(jiǎng)獲得者David Baltimore博士和電機(jī)工程專(zhuān)家Axel Scherer博士共同創(chuàng)立。總部設(shè)在美國(guó)的加利福尼亞州。
David Baltimore博士: 世界上最有影響的生物學(xué)家之一， 34歲獲得麻省理工學(xué)院生物學(xué)教授，36歲當(dāng)選美國(guó)科學(xué)院院士，37歲因?yàn)樵赗NA病毒研究方面的突出貢獻(xiàn)獲得諾貝爾生理醫(yī)學(xué)獎(jiǎng)，自1997‐2006年，擔(dān)任加州理工學(xué)院的院長(zhǎng)。
Axel Scherer博士: 世界著名光子與微細(xì)加工專(zhuān)家，1993年開(kāi)辦加州理工學(xué)院納米加工研究所，創(chuàng)立了光學(xué)晶體學(xué)，致力于半導(dǎo)體微加工技術(shù)研究，并應(yīng)用于光子學(xué)和生物學(xué)設(shè)備，在世界光電子領(lǐng)域處于領(lǐng)先地位。2001年合作創(chuàng)辦了Luxtera公司，在新一代光子通訊技術(shù)方面，具有大量創(chuàng)新性專(zhuān)利，超越了IBM,Intel等公司，是SUN Microsystem （太陽(yáng)微系統(tǒng)公司），Philips的技術(shù)合作伙伴。
2010年Illumina收購(gòu)Helixis
Helixis, headquartered in Carlsbad, California, develops innovative nucleic acid tools for research and clinical diagnostics applications. The privately held company was founded in 2007 through a unique collaboration between molecular biologists and engineers in the labs of Nobel Laureate David Baltimore, Ph.D., and Axel Scherer, Ph.D., at the California Institute of Technology. Helixis is currently developing a new generation of high-performance, low-cost, real time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) systems.
At Helixis, we are developing advanced nucleic acid analysis tools for the research scientist and clinical applications. Combining technology from the labs of David Baltimore and Axel Scherer at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) with insights from life-sciences researchers around the world, we are building next-generation real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) solutions that overcome limitations and change the rules.
