BioLegend develops and manufactures world-class, cutting-edge antibodies and reagents for biomedical research, offered at an outstanding value. Our product areas include cell immunophenotyping, cytokines and chemokines, adhesion, cancer research, T regulatory cells, stem cells, innate immunity, cell-cycle analysis, apoptosis, and modification-specific antibodies. All of BioLegend’s reagents are supported by superior customer service and come with a quality guarantee. Our aggressive product development program, through technology licensing, collaborations, and internal hybridoma development, produces strategic reagents for use in a variety of applications including flow cytometry, ELISA, immunoprecipitation, Western blotting, immunofluorescence microscopy, immunohistochemistry, and in vitro or in vivo functional assays. BioLegend offers the broadest selection of fluorochrome conjugates for multi-color flow cytometry. With an experienced biochemistry team, BioLegend is well positioned to offer a wide range of custom conjugation services to meet our customers’ specific needs.
BioLegend was incorporated in June, 2002. The founder and CEO of BioLegend, Gene Lay, D.V.M., who was also the co-founder of PharMingen, has extensive background in the research reagent business. Brad Kraft, President, has been involved in the biotechnology community for over 20 years. In 1988, Brad joined PharMingen as co-founder in charge of Marketing, Business and Corporate Development. Brad subsequently worked with numerous emerging biotech companies in the areas of corporate/business development, global strategy and marketing. Dr. Nan Jiang, Vice President of Operations, has over 20 years extensive experience in organic chemistry and protein chemistry both in academia and industry. Dr. Jiang was formerly the Process Development Manager at PharMingen. Xifeng Yang, M.D., Vice President of Cellular Analysis, has over 20 years research and development experience in the fields of immunology, hematology, and cell biology. Previously, Dr. Yang was a scientist at PharMingen for over 6 years. Shaoquan Ji, DVM/Ph.D., Vice President of Biomarkers and Immunoassays, has over 25 years experience in the areas of nutrition, physiology, protein chemistry and molecular biology, in both academic research and industrial product development environments. Prior to joining BioLegend, Dr. Ji spent many years at LINCO Research/MILLIPORE Corp. leading the development and commercialization of multiplex biomarker immunoassays using Luminex xMAP technology. Kent Johnson, Chief Financial Officer and Nancy Huang, Vice President of International Sales and Marketing, bring a vast amount of knowledge and experience in biotechnology to BioLegend, each with over 10 years tenure with PharMingen.
Additionally, BioLegend has a staff of highly experienced scientific and technical professionals who have extensive experience in the industry. BioLegend strives to provide quality research reagents and expert technical support to the scientific community worldwide. BioLegend is located in San Diego, in the midst of one of the nation’s largest and fastest growing biotechnology areas. As a result of the company’s rapid growth, BioLegend has expanded its operations and moved to a new facility in Sorrento West Life Science Park , San Diego, in January 2007. Our close proximity to world-renowned research institutions, such as The Scripps Research Institute, the Salk Institute, The Burnham Institute, and University of California – San Diego, catalyzes scientific exchange and collaborations.
BioLegend Japan KK, in partnership with Tomy Digital Biology Co., Ltd., opened in Tokyo in February 2008. Yoshiro Namai, President, BioLegend Japan KK, and Yoko Yano, Marketing and Business Development Manager, lead a highly experienced and trained technical staff, providing immediate access to BioLegend’s entire portfolio of reagents and the highest level of customer service and technical support.
